The
TOYM program of Junior Chamber Malaysia serves to recognize up to ten
individuals aged from 18 years to 40 years of age exemplify the best
attributes of their country's best individual.
Junior Chamber Malaysia will honor The Outstanding Young
Malaysian in an Award Ceremony which will be held in December, 2006.
The
ceremony will highlight each winner's career in narrative form and
provide a stage from which the honourees can challenge and inspire
young people from around the country. For each honouree, there will be
a presentation profiling his/her accomplishments, followed by the
trophy presentation, and an acceptance speech.
Any
individual, association or institution can nominate any number of
nominees. Winners will be selected by a group of distinguished judges.
Nominations are received in each of the ten categories listed below.
Selection of the winners will be based upon their
achievements or contributions in any one (1) of the following
categories:

Business, economic and /
or entrepreneurial accomplishment
-
Political, legal and
governmental affairs
-
Academic leadership and
accomplishment
-
Cultural achievement
-
Moral and religious
leadership
-
Contribution to children,
world peace and/or human rights
-
Humanitarian and
voluntary service
-
Scientific and
technological development
-
Personal development and
accomplishment
-
Medical innovation
Also,
in determining the recipients of this recognition, the judges shall
give particular consideration to each Nominee's record of adherence to
the principles embodied in the JAYCEES
CREED.
A
distinguished panel of judges consisting of personalities of high
stature and respect in the society will do the judging. Some of the
past judges include Tan Sri Ramon Navaratnam, Tan Sri Augustine Ong,
Tan Sri Dato' Dr. Lin See Yan, Dato' Haji Harun Din, Datin Ann Bt Abdul
Majid, Toh Puan Datin Dr. Hajjah Aishah Ong.
The judges will be guided by a fair and stringent selection
criteria based on 3 general guidelines:

How each nominee's
achievement had benefited their community, nation or world;

The
extent to which the nominee's achievement exemplifies the last tenet of
the Jaycee Creed "that service to humanity is the best work of life";
and
-
To
evaluate whether the achievements demonstrated by the nominee will
provide inspiration to our youths to strive to their fullest
potentials.
